“I Believe in Evolution, Maker of Heaven and Earth” Sound Absurd? It Certainly Is! (10/19/09) One of the great historical creeds of the Christian Faith is, “The Apostle’s Creed.” The first statement of that grandiose creed is, “I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.” Suppose we rather say: “I believe in Evolution, Maker of heaven and earth.” Which statement seems more plausible? Which statement appears to be more believable? Which statement would you care to base your future existence upon once your earthly life is all but expended? Memorial holiday weekend of 2007 marked the beginning opening of the new “Creation Museum” near Cincinnati, Ohio. It not only marked the historic opening of a museum that holds a vastly different view of human origins, but this museum marked a new low for attacks upon the Christian Religion. Media Attacks Even before the Creation Museum opened there were the traditional [old mainstream] liberal / extremist media attacks upon the “Answers in Genesis” (AIG) organization. The Bill Maher type cynics came out of the the media woodwork and even the “National Center for Science Education” (NCSE) were charging Creation Museum officials of gross negligence by misleading all youth who would venture upon its doors. How dare the Answers in Genesis group lure America’s youth into this “Anti-science façade” and convince them that their existence did not happen by chance, but by a benevolent and creative Master Designer! So, rambled on their sick, twisted, bigoted and actually, anti-scientific prejudiced dogmatic rants and ravings. [Personally, as I observed and read various news reports about the Creation Museum, I was again reminded of the deep seeded bias (and ignorant) prejudice against the historical documents of the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures – which, I’m convinced, only describe the unbelieving, confused and clouded mindset of a decadent culture, bent on self destruction] – Psalm 2 ; Psalm 139:20 ; Isaiah 66:4 ; Romans 1:17-22] The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) has been a staunch critic of the new Creation Museum: In a most non-academic way, contrary to all one would expect from scientists dedicated to careful research, leading American atheist Dr. Eugenie Scott (director of the National Center for Science Education, a somewhat misnamed organization because its primary mission is to oppose creationists) is convincing other scientists to sign petitions against the ready-to-open Creation Museum, even though these scientists have not yet toured the museum (opening May 28). While these scientists have not read any of the museum’s signs, have not viewed any of its 55 videos, and have not discussed its content with any of AiG’s Ph.D. scientists, they somehow manage to render an opinion without visiting. [ “Academics publicly oppose soon-to-open Creation Museum” by Ken Ham, President, AiG-U.S. May 15, 2007 – answersingenesis.org] Other groups besides the NCSE have piled on their reproach of the new Creation Museum. In fact, one website group has a petition drive in protest of the Creation Museum and its “AIG” sponsors. Curiously, this group is supposed to herald itself in defense of the American Constitution! A woefully misnamed national organization calling itself The Campaign to Defend the Constitution (better known as DefCon) has apparently decided—if its name is to be taken seriously—that one way to defend the Constitution is to convince people to stay away from the Creation Museum when the center opens May 28. [“Def ear to toleration?” Mark Looy -- answersingenesis.org] -- (5/20/07)] The Culture’s Faulty Reason for Rejection of Creator God When people are given the option through their public school Educational Industry’s (forced) feeding education to believe that they come from the primeval slime, or from pure chance, it absolves them of any moral responsibility. If you actually believe that you evolved from the “Animal kingdom,” rather than especially being created by Creator God, then you are free to live carelessly and capriciously – devoid of any responsible accountability to the true God, love of oneself and your neighbor. But what does the entire aforementioned have to do with today’s (Sunday’s) topical sermon title? Here is the issue, and here, is, what is, “at stake:” You are “at Stake!” The issue is you. Your very physical presence – body, mind, emotions – and, I will say your “Soul!” I say your “Soul,” because, without you having been specially created by Creator God, -- you have no soul. That means that when you die – you are no more -- period! It will be, as if you had never lived and that all your physical life and time spent here on planet earth, was meaningless. This is the clear implication of being a staunch believer in the theory of Evolution -- because the belief in this theory, [supposedly] conveniently removes God from the “Equation.” However, if you believe, (and act accordingly) that you are, indeed, a special creation of Creator God, then, that reality alone makes you an accountable human being. You cannot, then, in good conscience, degenerate into an Adolph Hitler type -- exempt from all that is good, right and moral. You have, rather, a God created, God-given purpose and future. Don’t be Fooled! Don’t Insult Your Priceless Soul! My friend, I believe that the early Christian church fathers had a very good reason to codify the words of the early Christians into the now fixed and traditional “Apostle’s Creed.” The words of the Apostle’s Creed, “I believe in God the Father,” – make reference to the Triune God, first introduced in the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures of Genesis, Chapter 1, verse, 26. The word, “Almighty” refers to the supernatural and genuine God, who has brought the world and universe into existence by His creative (“Fiat”) Word. He spoke, and it was completed! No need here, friend, to strain the recesses of your brain in anxiety to find the faith to believe that you came from a molecule washed up on some privemeal slime shore. Why insult your God-given intelligence – unless you are attempting to avoid what is so obvious and avoid your “Sinful” condition! Oh – I don’t apologize for bringing up your universal and damning disease, of what the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures call, “Sin.” “Sin” is that universal “Malady” that was passed down to all of humanity when Adam and Eve first disobeyed God, thus, “Falling into sin.” [Romans 5:12-21] Incidentally – with the new Creation Museum, this is a big “bug-a-boo” with evolutionists. No way, no how could there have been dinosaurs living at the same time, mankind lived – so, their theory of Evolution would have everyone brainwashed, to believe. But the Scriptural documentation shows otherwise. When sin entered the world, it had a disastrous and devastating effect upon all plant, animal and human life. Fortunately, we now have a Creation Museum and, an excellent answersingenesis.org website, presenting this lucid point of view. There is also the "Institute for Creation Research," [icr.org] Back to the words of the first article of the Apostle’s Creed: Think about them for awhile. If you truly believe in the theory of Evolution, you cannot believe the historic and traditional Creed words, which declare: “I believe in God the Father, Maker of Heaven and Earth.” I believe those words. I believe those words so firmly that when I die someday, I am assured that, the same Creator God who created me [Psalm 139] will take my “Redeemed” soul to be with Him to live "'Life,' Everlasting,” rather than to experience in hell, the destination of the souls of the damned, who will continue to live their lives in tormenting everlastingly death. [Gospel of Luke, 16:19-31] A repulsive thought for me to think, is, that any person, or even a nominal “Christian,” can believe in the theory of Evolution and then, schizophrenically believe and think that Creator Christ [Colossians 1:15-18] will save his soul that He did not supposedly create! How presumptuous on that person’s part to insult the Triune God! [Colossians 1:15-18 ; Chapter 2:6-19] Friend, if you are that above (type of person) that I just described, don’t tamper with your priceless soul. Realize that the sinful you, as a result of a sinfully fallen world [Genesis 3 ; Romans 5:12-21] will die someday in your sins. You will die in your sins leaving unresolved, a priceless solution for your damning sins. [John 3:18-21] If you find it difficult to believe what I have been attempting to convey – wrest your preconceived ideas of Evolutionary thought away from yourself, and avail yourself of something different. Explore new ideas – may I even suggest that you be “Scientific” in your quest? Check out answersingenesis.org and icr.org -- but realize that your quest for reality and the truth cannot be answered by “Science.” Christ alone, who is Creator God – far exceeds the physical laws of “Science,” which He created. [Colossians 1:15-17] He alone is able to cleanse you from your original sin. He alone is able to forgive you of your sins of unbelief and your sins of commission and omission against His holy and unadulterated commandments. May His Holy Spirit lead you to this revelation truth and the faith from the Maker of heaven and earth to believe!
