The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, [Spirit] born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick [living] and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; [Spirit] the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

A Concise Explanation of the Apostle's Creed

CREATION:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. What does this mean?

I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, [bodily parts] and still preserves them; also clothing and shoes, meat and drink, house and home, wife and children, fields, cattle, and all my goods; that He richly and daily provides me with all that I need to support this body and life; that He defends me against all danger, and guards and protects me from all evil; and all this purely out of fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me; for all which it is my duty to thank and praise, to serve and obey Him.

This is most certainly true.

Redemption:

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, [Spirit] born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick [living] and the dead. What does this mean?

I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned crature, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom, and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, even as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity.

Sanctification:

I believe in the Holy Ghost; [Spirit] the holy Christian Church, the communion of saint; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. What does this mean?

I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ , my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Ghost [Spirit] has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith; even as He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith; in which Christian Church He daily and richly forgives all sins to me and all believers, and will at the Last Day raise up me and all the dead, and give unto me and all believers in Christ eternal life.

This is most certainly true.

Pictoral Ilustrations of the Triune God --
or, what is commonly referred to, as "The 'Trinity:'"

Please note the "Harmony" of the Triune God -- of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

Also note: That the 3 persons of the Trinity are distinct from one another.

Understanding the Triune God is not, 1+1+1 = 3  -- but rather, 1X1X1 = 1

The Nicene Creed
[325 A.D.]

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, Begotten, not made, Being of one substance with the Father, by Whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost [Spirit] of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven; and sitteth on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again with glory to judge both the quick [living] and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost [Spirit], the Lord and Giver of Life, Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, Who spake by the Prophets. And I believe (in) one holy Christian and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead; and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Sin and Sinners

What is the "New Birth," -- or, what is commonly called "Regeneration," or, the Christian "Conversion" process?

All men are sinners by birth and by choice  [Romans 3.23  ; John 8.44]. Being “born from above” is a supernatural act involving the impartation of divine life.  The basis of the new birth is the sacrificial death of Christ  [1 Peter 1.17-23;  -- 1 Corinthians 15.2-3 and Titus 3.5].

The indispensable condition of the new birth is personal faith in Jesus Christ [John 1.12-13]. Regeneration itself occurs when the Holy Spirit, through the Word of God, convicts, converts, and regenerates the sinner.  It is called “the washing of regeneration” in Titus 3.5   --  [see also John 3.5   ;  James 1.18  ; 1 Peter 1.23  ; Ephesians 5.26].

At least four benefits accrue to the believer from regeneration:  (1) he becomes a child of God [John 1.12  ; Galatians 3.26   ; Romans 8.16-17] (2) he becomes a new creation [2 Corinthians 5.17  ; Galatians 6.15  ; Ephesians 2.10]  (3) he partakes “of the divine nature” [2 Peter 1.4]  (4) in his own experience he shares in Christ’s victory over sin and the world according to the measure of his faith [1 John 3.9   ; 1 John 5.4 and verse 18]. [Harper Study Bible – Zondervan Publishing House]
